Challenge

Capital Vacations wanted to elevate their New Owner Kit experience.
The original new owner kit included a thumb drive and closing documents inside a gift box. Capital Vacations was concerned that their kit was not substantially different than their competitors. They wanted to create a premium “gift box” experience for their customers that would differentiate the brand.
The current kit has been in use for 8 years and looks outdated. Competitors have recently updated their own kits.

Solution

Create a high-end gift box similar to the look and feel of Apple packaging.
Thumbprint collaborated with Capital Vacations on a high-end, experiential owner kit. This kit would include a soft-touch gift box, a pen, a USB with all owner documents, a 150-page photo book highlighting all of the resorts available to the new owners and a video explaining all the benefits the new owner will be receiving. The new kits adhere to the prescribed budget.

Understand Capital Vacation’s vision for their gift box. Determine what was working and what was not working with the original design. Thumbprint considered the design of competitors’ new owner kits.

Create

Thumbprint worked with packaging partners as well as the Capital Vacations creative team to bring the video and graphic elements of the gift box to life. Thumbprint’s Engagement Team brainstormed and sourced complimentary promotional products and print collateral to place inside the box.

Distribute

Distribute

Capital Vacations orders their resident’s gift-boxes via their company store. Thumbprint’s warehouse team then fulfills and delivers to Capital Vacation’s 6 sales centers across the nation.

Measure

Measure

Packaging and insert material costs are constantly monitored to ensure the kits meet budget requirement. Thumbprint provides ordering data to corporate to assist with sales and center budgeting.

Results

The new owner kits are ARTY award finalists for campaign innovation and experience design.

The gift boxes format has been well received by customers. This new program helped Capital Vacations raise their status in the Time Share industry and also offered a “wow factor” to new clients that was missing before.
