Meet Morgan Lathaen

As Thumbprint’s Marketing Specialist, Morgan produces the bulk of Thumbprint’s online content, including monthly spotlights on our team members. This month, we decided to turn the tables and interview her. Time to learn what Thumbprint’s Marketing Maven is all about!

Where did you grow up and what did you like most about living there?
I grew up in a small town about 45 minutes outside of Orlando called Clermont. I lived, at most, 30 minutes from all of my family. I loved having family dinner nights/game nights once a month. My grandparents would also join me at school every Wednesday for lunch and my entire family attended all my school and dance events.

I also appreciated living so close to a major tourist destination. Every summer my family would purchase season passes for one of the theme parks and we would choose a different park each year. It was so hard to pick between Universal Studios or Walt Disney World! (Editor’s note: The struggle is real.)

What is your role at Thumbprint?
As Thumbprint’s Marketing Specialist, I write marketing literature, create and automate email campaigns, compose and manage online content, and perform marketing research/analysis to support our sales team members and the company as a whole.

What made you decide to choose Marketing as a career?
It was my first marketing class at Florida State that really excited me. I was completely fascinated with product positioning and how that relates to consumer thought processes. For my capstone case study, I worked with fellow students to develop a strategic plan to revitalize the NASCAR brand and attract new audiences. That really sealed the deal for me!

How long have you been with Thumbprint?
Next February will be my 2 year anniversary!

What is your favorite thing about working at Thumbprint?
Hands down, it’s the people. We have such a great team and they all make Thumbprint such a fun workplace!

What do you like about working in the brand logistics industry?
It’s a very fast-pace industry that is constantly evolving, which means that there are always new and exciting projects to work on!

What do you feel is one of the biggest challenges facing Marketers right now?
I think it’s important to be sensitive to people’s emotions during this pandemic. Since Thumbprint has been actively involved in providing PPE, we’ve had to qualify all the content we’ve created by asking: “How would someone interpret this? Are we speaking with empathy? Are we being authentic to the Thumbprint brand?”

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I’m a dancer! I was trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, musical theater, and so many more. I started competing when I was 7 and danced my way through college. Go Noles!

What show are you currently binge-watching?
I just finished watching the last and final season of Schitt’s Creek!

What’s your favorite childhood memory?
Every year, our family would spend Christmas together at my grandparent’s cabin up in the North Carolina mountains. With no cell or internet service, it was a great opportunity for everyone to just unplug and really focus on each other during the holidays.

Favorite Book?
I’m a big reader. The last book I read was incredible – The Guest List by Lucy Foley. I love anything that’s a Thriller, Mystery, or Romance.

Favorite place you’ve ever visited?
Amsterdam! My husband and I took a 3-day trip to Amsterdam while we were visiting his family in England and it was so much fun. We saw the windmills in the countryside, rode bikes along the canals, went to the zoo, visited hidden churches and so much more! Bonus: their food was delish.

Fun Fact about yourself?
I’m kind of an adrenaline junkie. Cliff jumping, zip-lining, white water rafting… you name it, I’m there! My husband and I went skydiving on our first year anniversary.

(Editor’s note: We are so grateful to have Morgan on our Marketing Team. She brings boundless enthusiasm, incredible ideas, and a can-do attitude to every project!)
